Mary Alleyne (Watson) Essary passed away March 13, 2023 peacefully at her home in Canton, GA after a very long illness. She is survived by her husband of 60 years Joe Essary, and her son Mark Essary of Canton, GA and son & daughter-in-law David & Keely Essary of Milton, GA. She was preceded in death by her parents Doyle (Ken) Watson and Reba (Simpson) Crofford and brother Charles Watson. She was born August 7, 1943 in Piggott, AR, the daughter of multi-generational farming families.
She was Grandmother to Taelor Turnbow of Dallas, TX, and Everly & Emerson Essary of Milton, GA. She was Great-Grandmother to Berkeley and Ellis Turnbow. These girls were the lights in her life, giving her the strength to persevere through her significant healthcare challenges. Her last joy and smile was shared with them.
Alleyne had many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, brothers & sisters-in-law that were so very special to her. She was always there for anyone who needed her in their time of need, was the best mother you could ever ask for, and a true friend to many. She had a love for country music and spent many years in Nashville living out her dream. She retired after a long career with the Internal Revenue Service.
A remembrance of her life is being planned in her co-hometowns of Piggott, AR and Poplar Bluff, MO.
In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to the Bobby Dodd Institute Bridge Academy for neurodiverse employment at
