Anneliese Wilké Ponton, age 87, of Canton, Ga., passed away on Friday, December 20 th , 2024 surrounded
by her family, in her home.
The life of a Warrior, born on September 24, 1937, in Bremen, Germany, right between two wars. She lived
away from her family on two separate occasions due to contracting Tuberculosis. Running to bomb shelters in the
middle of the night due to air raids coming thru Germany.
In 1956, when she was 20 years old, she met a U.S. Army serviceman. They fell in love and got married on October
28 th , 1957, in Germany, giving her the ability to leave the country. After this, they got married once again on the
U.S. Army base on November 2 nd , 1957.
So now newly married and halfway across the world, she started her new life. Fast forward, she raised five children, had 16
grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
She was a member of Epworth First Baptist Church since 1974. This resulted in a very full and
vibrant life lived by an incredible woman, wife, mother, and grandmother.
Anneliese is preceded in death by her husband, Angelo Ponton and Grandson, Joseph Dills.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Monika (Fulton) Arrington, Angela (Jeffrey) Dills, Helga
(Bobby) Queen, Michele (Scott) Parish, Marcus (Carolyn) Ponton. Grandchildren, Alex (Lisa) Loudermilk, Daniel
(Haley) Loudermilk, Gary Loudermilk, Hope Loudermilk, Jennifer Dills, John (Melissa) Queen, Kimberly Queen,
Jeremy (Angelica) Parish, Jessica (Blake) Cartin, Faith(Daniel) Wilder, Tyechia Ledford, Michael Ponton, Taylor
(Kyle) Engler, Madison Ponton, Matthew Ponton and numerous Great and Great-Great Grandchildren.
