David Samuel Fambro, 66, of Atlanta passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2018 after a lengthy illness. David, born August 29, 1952, was the fourth of six children born to Virginia and Dillard Fambro of Atlanta, Georgia.
David met and married Alfreda Fluellen. To this union one child was born, Kimberly Denise Fambro. Later the best love of his life, a grandson, Collin Myles Brightwell was born.
After graduation from Douglas High School, David served in the U.S. Marine Corps where he earned a USMC Rifle Sharpshooter Badge and a National Defense Service Medal.
David began his civil service career with the U.S. Postal Service and later retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital in Atlanta. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dillard Henry and Virginia Grice Fambro, brother Dillard Henry Fambro, Jr., and sisters Diane Fambro Nash and Debra Fambro Blalock. Also, a loving and caring friend who was a stabilizing force in his life, Elizabeth (Liz) King Carter.
He is survived by his daughter Kimberly Fambro of Atlanta, brother Dean Fambor of California, sister Delores Fambro Neal of Ohio, grandson Collin Brightwell of Atlanta and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mr. Fambo will be honored with a committal service at Georgia National Cemetery on Friday, November 2nd at 10:30 am.
