Dorothy(Dot) Nell Tolar Butler

Dorothy Nell (Dot) Tolar Butler, age 91, Canton, GA passed from her life on earth to heaven on May 21, 2022. She was born in 1931 to Charlie Tolar and Laverne Davis Tolar in Oak Grove, LA.

Dorothy grew up in a hard working farming family. She married her sweetheart Lester Butler in 1952 and they eventually settled in Monroe, LA.

Dorothy’s life exemplified the Corrie ten Boom quote of  “The measure of life, after all, is not in its duration but its donation.” She did have a long life on this earth, but the love and kindness she showed to family, friends, and everyone she met defined her life. She truly displayed Christ’s love for others by being generous with all she had. She was a wonderful cook and an uplifting person through prayer, support and good meals. She set the example for how her family should live their lives.

She is predeceased by her husband, Lester Butler, her parents and her brother Charles Ray Tolar. She is survived by her daughter Lisa Magee (Ricky), grandsons Jeff Magee (Chelsea) and Jason Magee (Dree) and greatgrandchildren Callen, Julianna, Jack and Cooper all of Canton, GA. She is also survived by nieces Mary Reed and Laura Culp of Monroe, LA and many other nieces and nephews.

A visitation will take place Monday May 23, 2022 from 5:00pm -7:00pm and funeral service will be held Tuesday May 24, 2022 at 11:00am preceded by an hour of visitation from 10:00am-11:00am, all at Canton Funeral Home. Interment will take place in Monroe Louisiana at Mulhearn Memorial Park on Thursday May 26, 2022 at 10:00am.
