August 25, 1929 - December 23, 2024
Canton, GA
Ellen Louise (Holt) Stetson, age 95, passed peacefully in her sleep on December 23rd after a short battle with cancer. Ellen was born August 25, 1929, in Windsor, VT to Leon E. Holt and Achsah (Whitney) Holt, and grew up in Barnard, Vermont. She graduated in 1947 from Hartford High School and was married to Lloyd G. Stetson Jr on July 3, 1949. Ellen and Lloyd later settled in North Babylon, NY where they raised their family. Ellen remained in their home after Lloyd’s passing in 1988, living there a total of 61 years. She spent her final years at the home of her daughter Linda and son-in-law Tony Acevedo in Canton, GA. She attended church at Calvary Chapel Alpharetta. Ellen loved to travel, loved music, enjoyed a good social gathering and loved to dance at parties – was even known to dance on a table or two. She was a great listener, and though she didn’t ever intrude on anyone’s life, when she did give her opinion, her wisdom was absolute and insightful. Everyone knew her by her smile which drew people to her. Even people who didn’t know her well were positively impacted by the sweet spirit she brought into a room. She had an incredible strength and sense of humor that was evident until the very end. She is preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Stetson Jr, son Frederick Stetson, parents Leon and Achsah Holt, brothers Ernest Holt, Everett Holt and Eric Holt, and sister Eleanor (Holt) Billings. She is survived by her son Steve Stetson, daughters Terry (Rodney) Kenison and Linda (Tony) Acevedo, Grandchildren Thomas (Annmarie) Stetson, Michael (Nicole) Stetson, Tara (Patrick) Morano, James Kenison, David Kenison, Christopher Kenison, Clayton (Carrie Brown) Kenison, Amelia Acevedo & Jonathan Acevedo, Great-grandchildren Thomas Stetson, Timothy Stetson, Michael Stetson, Ella Stetson, Shawn Morano, Peter Morano, Frederick Morano, Dominic Kenison, Gabrielle Kenison. Also survived by nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held February 8, 2025, from 2:00pm until 4:00pm at Calvary Chapel Alpharetta, 200 James Rd, Alpharetta, GA 30004. The family will also be holding a future memorial service at Silver Lake in Barnard, VT. Date to be determined.
