Ms. Floria “Helen” B. Martin, age 81, of Ball Ground, GA went to be with the LORD, on January 17, 2017 following an extended illness. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Canton Funeral Home and Cemetery at Macedonia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 and from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. before the memorial service.
Helen was born in Atlanta on May 11, 1935 to parents Newton Thomas Benton and Eddie Mae Benton. Helen was one of four children. She is predeceased by her parents and sisters Betty Ann Turner, Shirley Bone, and brother David Benton.
Helen shared her life with and is predeceased by husband Sidney Kelly, and enduring friend Clyde Sailor.
Helen is survived by daughter and son in law, Sandra Kelly Marks and Steve Marks of Ball Ground, sons Michael Sidney Kelly of Fayetteville, Mark Wayne Kelly of Valdosta, step-daughter Carol Martin Jones of Griffin.
Helen was known to many as “MAW” and is survived by and was Blessed with grandchildren Craig, Rusty, Misty, Amy, Christy, Bryan, Bridgette, and step granddaughter Kelly and 15 great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank and acknowledge the labor of love given to Helen by her devoted caregiver Ms. Mae Howard.
The family request, In lieu of flowers, memory gifts can be made to American Heart Association.
Officiating the service is Pastor Ken May of Antioch Christian Church. Interment will be a private.
