George Thomas Lugar 61, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loved ones

on November 15, 2024. He was born October 1 st , 1963, in Los Angeles, CA to Robert Roland

Lugar Sr and Janey Rasor (nee’Ormsby).

As a young child George loved to be outside, always on an adventure with his siblings. Earning

the nickname “Tiger” by his father due to his protective, observant and fearless nature. George

was an animal lover, raising and training horses from a young age. Eventually leading him to

ride in the Rodeo for many years, a true cowboy at heart. At the young age of 17, George

joined “The United States Navy”, where he served proudly for 20 years. His leadership and

commitment earned him respect and admiration from everyone that had the privilege to serve

next to him. George “lovingly” received the nickname “Grinch” from his fellow sailors for having

a gruff exterior and a no-nonsense way of life. Beneath the tough exterior was a heart full of

passion. He taught the value of hard work, integrity, and perseverance. He was a fighter and

one of the strongest men even in his last days.

George had a great love for his family, especially his girls. He taught them life lessons and they

will continue in his honor.

He is preceded in death by his father Robert Roland Lugar Sr, brothers Robert Lugar and Alan

Lugar and sister Linda Lugar. He is survived by his girls, Tanya Yovanovitch, Jessica

Whitehead, Shauna Jernigan, and Heather Lugar; spouse Kim Lugar (nee’ Burton);

grandchildren Carter Whitehead, Layton Lugar, Miles Yovanovitch, Jamison Whitehead, Luna

Corbett, and Vivian Jernigan; brother Kurt Lugar; mother Janey Rasor (nee’Ormsby) and Step-

Father William Rasor.

The family will receive friends and family at “The Canton Funeral Home and Cemetery at

Macedonia Park” Monday November 25 th , 2024. Following he will be laid to rest at “Georgia

National Cemetery”.
