The Family of Hutson Travis Kuykendall, Jr, age 83 of Canton, GA, wish to announce his
passing on July 10, 2024. Travis, as he was most known by, was a member of Canton First
Methodist Church. He was a retiree from Lockheed-Georgia Company following 45 years of
service. Travis was also a contractor and master plumber owning his own businesses for many
years. He was very proud to have been a Master Mason and Shriner for nearly 40 years. In
that time, he held positions of leadership in both orders holding the highest position in more than
one lodge. Travis devoted much of his time and resources toward fundraising to provide care
for crippled and burned children and the Shriner Children’s Hospitals.
Travis had many interests including golfing, crafting, and cars. He loved Street-rodding and
showed his 1946 Mercury Coupe at many rallies over the years. He was also a dare-devil
racing multiple set-up Camaros on short strip tracks around Georgia. And Travis was a
musician. In his early years, he played with a local Marietta band that was fortunate enough to
have played back-up at a few celebrity concerts. But he loved playing the Mountain Dulcimer
the most and was a member of the Hilltop Strummers Dulcimer group. He loved playing for the
nursing homes and other venues for which the group played.
Above all, Travis had a strong belief in God, and loved his family. He is survived by his wife,
Brenda, two step-daughters, Lori Flink (David) and Nicolie Griffin (Emil); one son, Eddie
Kuykendall; three grandchildren, Alexandria Lennon, Holden Lennon, Nicolas Griffin; one
brother, Cliff Kuykendall (Becky); one brother-in-law, Steve Luther (Sherry); and several nieces,
nephews and cousins.
