Larry D Peterson

Larry Dale Peterson, 75, of Canton, Georgia died unexpectedly on February 10, 2024. He was born on April 23, 1948, the son of Milton and Berdeen Floch Peterson in Greenville, Pennsylvania.

Larry is survived by his childhood friend, high school sweetheart and wife of  55 years Linda, his two daughters, Amy Gralnick Relyea (John) and Susie Yuhasz (Chris) and his treasured grandsons, Adam Peterson Gralnick, Theodore Charles Yuhasz, and Owen Frederick Yuhasz. Larry is also survived by his  brother, Douglas Peterson (Lisa) and family.

Larry graduated from Greenville Senior High School in 1966 and then became a proud Nittany Lion at Penn State University,  graduating in 1970 with a degree in Finance.  Larry also earned a  masters  degree from the Stonier School of Banking at Rutgers University.

During high school Larry became a professional ice skater and paid his way through college by teaching figure skating at Penn State. Upon graduation, he joined National City Bank in Cleveland, Ohio and thus began a career in banking, spanning over 50 years. Larry’s  banking career included stops in Cleveland, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, and finally Atlanta, where he became President and CEO of Fidelity Bank. 

Larry was a former member of Capital City Club and currently of Woodmont Country Club. Throughout his career he supported numerous organizations, including two of his favorites, the Downtown Atlanta Kiwanis and the Atlanta Ballet. He most recently spent his time and his talents serving his beloved church, Birmingham United Methodist Church (BUMC) in multiple financial leadership roles.

A memorial service will be held Saturday February 17,  2:00 pm at Birmingham United Methodist Church, 15770 Birmingham Highway, Milton, Georgia 30004. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting a donation to a cause close to his heart, the debt reduction fund at BUMC.
