Renee Smith Mansour, age 70, of Canton, GA, peacefully entered heaven to be with her
Lord on February 19, 2025. Renee was born on July 26, 1954, to Harold and Bertha
Smith of Barnesville, Georgia, where she spent her childhood and married her high
school sweetheart, John Edward Mansour.
Renee is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Bertha Smith and brothers,
Harold and Kenneth Smith, and sister-in-law, Martha Mansour Morgan. Renee is
survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Johnny; her two children, Brent Mansour
(Shai) and Amy Ellis (David); and her five grandchildren, Peyton, Cooper, and Addie
Mansour, Maggie, and Kate Ellis; brother-in-law Lewis Mansour (Carolyn) and sister-in-
law Sara Smith. She is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.
Renee is a 1975 graduate of the University of Georgia and an avid Bulldog fan. She
especially enjoyed cheering on her children and grandchildren at their events. She
could easily be heard as the most encouraging cheerleader in the stands; she never
missed an opportunity to support those she loved. The tennis court was where Renee
found both competition and community, forming friendships that lasted decades over
countless matches and post-game celebrations. She was an active volunteer to support
both her children and grandchildren as a PTA President, coach, and team mom. With
her generous heart, Renee's spirit extended beyond her family, as she dedicated her
time to making wishes come true for children facing critical illnesses as a Wishmaker for
the Make-A-Wish Foundation and walking miles to support breast cancer research in
the Susan G. Komen 3 Day Walk.
Renee will be best remembered as a loving wife, mom, Mimi, and treasured friend. Her
bright smile could light up any room, and her warm hugs made everyone feel like family.
She brought joy to every situation. Her laughter was contagious. She was very proud of
her family and had a special gift for making ordinary moments extraordinary. She will
forever be missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, February 27th, 2025, at 1:00 pm at
Birmingham United Methodist Church, 15770 Birmingham Highway, Milton, GA 30004.
Reception of guests will follow.
