Richard 'Dick' David McCloud Sr.

Richard “Dick” David McCloud, Sr. passed away suddenly at the age of 82 on Thursday, July 4,

2024 in Canton, Georgia. He is survived by his wife, MaryAnn, sisters Roberta and JoAnne,

sons Richard and David, grandchildren Cole, Kayla, Colin, Nicholas, and Thomas, and great-

grandchild Gabe. He was affectionately known as “grampy” to his grandchildren.

Dick was born in Boston, Massachusetts to parents Robert and Marion McCloud. He and his

wife moved to New Hampshire where he raised his sons and owned and operated several

successful kitchen cabinet installation and showroom businesses. After their sons were grown,

Dick and MaryAnn moved to South Yarmouth, Massachusetts on Cape Cod for 25 years before

moving to Canton, Georgia several years ago.

Throughout his life, Richard came to be an avid cruiser who went on many adventures with a

particular liking for Alaska and the Caribbean. He was a world-class talker and could befriend

anyone who would be willing to listen to his corny jokes.


Richard was a veteran and served in the United States Army from 1962 until 1965 and received

several badges including marksman (rifle M-1), sharpshooter (rifle M-14) and first class gunner

(3.5 RL). He also received a driver and mechanics badge with a driver bar.

Dick, husband, father, grampy, great-grampy, entrepreneur, veteran and friend was loved very

much and will be greatly missed.

A visitation and gathering to celebrate Dick's life will take place at Canton Funeral Home on Wednesday July 10, 2024 from 5-7pm.
