Bob Dye of Canton GA passed away peacefully at Emory Midtown Hospital on July, 11, 2022. Bob was born at Grady Hospital in Fulton County Ga. on May 13, 1949 to Alvis and Ruby Dye.
He is survived by his wife of over 40 years Donna of Canton, his son Joey of Marietta, and his daughter Rose of East Point GA. Bob is also survived by his mother Ruby Dye, his sister Ann Dye, his sister Emma Freeman, and his sister Daphene Roberts all from Grantville GA, his sister Nancy High of Dearing GA and his father-in-law Marvin Herrington of Canton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Bob helped with his father’s asphalt plant for many years. He also was in the US Marines for four years and served in Vietnam. He also served for several years as a machinist and in product quality control and inventory. His last professional occupation was as a welding teacher at Cherokee High School for 17 years.
Bob is best remembered as the caring man who always was doing something to help someone else in any way he could. Bob’s son’s Joey said it best- “The mechanic, the handyman, and the rescuer of the locked out and those with flat tires.” The size of his shoes are immeasurable.
Bob will be cremated per his request and there will be a memorial service at a later date in Canton GA. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation in his memory to either Antioch Christian Church in Canton Ga or the American Cancer Society.
