Robert P. Young, Sr., also known as "Bob" to his friends and family, passed away peacefully in his home, in Canton, GA, surrounded by family, Tuesday, June 30th at the age of 93. He was a designer, artist, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Mr. Young was born in Barre, Vermont on April 8, 1927 and moved to Georgia with his family in 1976, where he made Cherokee County his home. He received an arts degree from Boston School of Art and worked for Georgia Marble before going out on his own. He was a skilled artist of plot planning, cemetery design, and cemetery memorials. Bob designed the Veterans Memorial monument in The Park at City Center in Woodstock, GA and many other beautiful monuments around the country.
Bob had a love for all jazz music, Braves baseball, Falcons Football, and fishing. No one he met was ever a stranger.
He is preceded in death by his wife Anna Young. He is survived by his 4 children: Dot & Randy Johnson,Ruth Young,Robert Young Jr. & his fiance Judy Rice, Patti & Gary Johnson.
5 grandchildren: Steve & Jen Guillemette, Billy & Stephanie Price, Mindy Johnson, Kristy Johnson, & Mike Johnson. And great- grand children.
On Monday, July 6, a visitation will be held from 12pm-3pm at Canton Funeral Home followed by a service at the chapel. He will be buried at Macedonia Memorial Park Cemetery.
