Rose Anne King (Roseanne as she preferred) of Canton, GA passed away at the age of 80 on December, 17, 2024 at her residence: Trinity Manor. She left peacefully, surrounded in love by her 4 children and 7 out of 11 of her grandchildren.
Roseanne was born on February 27, 1944 in Battle Creek, Michigan. She was raised by Bart and Evelyn (Joyce) Mileski and had 2 younger siblings, Constance and Michael. She grew up in a Catholic household with modest means in the era where kids walked to school in the snow, as Roseanne did even as young as first grade. Some of her favorite memories from childhood were spending time with her grandfather, fishing with him and catching fireflies. In her teen years she drove a Chevrolet Corvair, putting just enough of her paycheck in the gas tank in order to spend the rest on clothes, makeup and the like. Roseanne was a fashionable stunner and always made sure her outfit was on point. After taking some additional post high school classes, she went to work for the US Army as a secretary for a general. It was at this job where she met her husband, First Lieutenant Robert (Bob) King II. Always being the prettiest girl in the room, he spotted her from across the mess hall and had someone introduce them. The two married in Michigan, but then soon moved to Texas where they started their family.
Later on, they moved to Marietta, Georgia with their 2 girls and 2 boys. Roseanne’s greatest joy was her kids. Motherhood, and later on grandmotherhood, was something she absolutely cherished. It was her life’s calling, and she excelled in every sense. While Roseanne was a sweet, softspoken lady, she would become tough as nails when her family needed her. The move to Georgia was met with significant hardships that would have defeated even the most resolute. Rosanne’s husband was out of work due to economic conditions, and then he was subsequently nearly fatally wounded in a horrific act of violence. This occurred while Roseanne was coping with her own mother’s hospitalization due to a heart attack. Despite these incredible challenges while taking care of her 4 children including an infant, Roseanne pulled it together for her family. Single handedly, she sold their house in Texas, selected and bought a house in Georgia for better economic opportunities, assisted her husband back to health, and kept the family moving forward. Even though she was always flawless with how she presented herself esthetically, Roseanne was very modest and a bit introverted. If you were lucky enough to make friends with her, she was an absolute joy to be around. She never forgot a friend and was ecstatic to reconnect with one she had made back in Texas decades prior. Those that were really close got to see her amazing sense of humor and hear her hearty infectious laugh that would leave her gasping for air.
Later in life Roseanne was stricken with health trouble, but on her better days, you could still get that warm heartfelt laugh from her, and all the troubles would melt away. This obituary is well short of being able to convey what a truly special lady Roseanne was to her family and friends.
Roseanne is preceded in death by her parents, Bart and Evelyn Mileski, and her husband, Robert Lynn King II.
She is survived by her sister and brother, Constance and Michael, as well as her children: Kathleen (Thomas) Brooks, Robert (Brian) King III, Lisa (Joshua) Dobstaff, and Ryan (Cecilia) King. In addition, she is survived by eleven wonderful grandchildren: Cole (Anna), Caroline, Mary Grace, Jack, John, Matthew, William, Joseph, Henry, James, Charlie, and one great grandchild on the way.
